Quilts and stuff

The summer time is traditionally not a busy one for quilters (although I think this summer's horrendous weather will have seen more people sewing indoors than is usual in July and August!) However, I have recently had several donations of quilts and other items which I want to show.
Firstly there is this lovely quilt which was made from part of the jelly roll which Rocheberie Quilters' members received as a Christmas gift.

A lady who goes to this group had been given some fabric which had belonged to a friend of hers who had died. This was a sad legacy, but she has made about a dozen quilts from this fabric for Project Linus, and gave me a small box full of cotton fabric which will be inspiration for others to make more.

The quilts are all relatively simple but striking.
This quilt looks a bit dull in this photo,

but you can see in a close up that the grey fabric is actually very sophisticated music fabric - perfect for a budding performer.

Another parcel came from Teresa, with three quilts in it. The two I have photoed are ideal for boys, as the colours and fabric choices are not at all flowery. Thank you Teresa!

Then I had a plea from Jenny, who used to be a Project Linus co-ordinator, but has had to give it up. She still had quite a lot of fabric, tops and a few quilts which she wanted to pass on. We met in Market Harborough (a halfway point) and her husband kindly loaded a large box, two bin bags and two carrier bags into the boot of my car. I spent time sorting it out, and separated it all into different piles. First was a banner, which will come into very good use.

Next were about six small prem quilts, mostly beautiful Baltimore blocks. What a good idea for trying out new techniques!
Then a small pile of tops, including a lovely pink one which will quickly find favour!
Next the fabric. I took out all the curtain fabric, as it is too heavy for children's quilts and I also took out some of the sheeting if it wasn't very soft. Don't worry, as it hasn't been wasted - I took it to the local charity shop to be sold, and they were very grateful to receive it all. There was still a lot of useable fabric, including quite a lot of novelty fabrics, especially animal and sporting motifs, which will be lovely made up into quilts.

Thank you very much, Jenny. Your fabric is in very safe hands!
