Knit and Stitch March

Yesterday was the second meeting of the Knit and stitch group in Lutterworth, and it was another very pleasant (and productive) afternoon. More than 20 people came to make charity items, learn something new, chat and drink tea, and we also had a visit from Andrew Carpenter, the local photographer, so look out for pictures in the 'Lutterworth Mail'!

Rosie was a bit hampered by one of her sewing machines suddenly refusing to sew, but luckily I had brought mine, so she was able to make 5 Morsbags, and had some kits for people to complete at home.

The knitters were busy making triangles for ADAPT. These triangles go inside the bras of mums with preterm babies, and then are put next to the baby, to help with bonding. Last year ADAPT gave away 3,000 of them, so we need to get knitting! The machine sewers made t-shirt blocks, and they were so focussed, it was like being in a sweat shop! They completed enough blocks for two quilts, and joined them together as well!

The hand sewers decorated penants made from Freetrade cotton, using Suffolk Puffs and embroidery. These were joined into bunting, and will be used to attempt to gain an entry in the Guiness Book of Records for the longest bunting in the world! It will eventually be draped round the Houses of Parliament in London! Gwyneth brought some fabric crayons, and the other members of the group decorated a flag too.

Here is our piece of the bunting. Look out for it if you go to London!
