There were about 15 people there altogether, and they worked really hard. We put the tables together with all the fabric strips in the centre so everyone could reach them.
I began to get a bit worried towards the end of the morning, as they had worked so hard that I ran out of Vilene foundations, and practically ran out of fabric!
Here are the strippy blocks they made - aren't they gorgeous! This is a kind of diamond arrangement,
and here a medallion. There were actually enough completed blocks to make 3 cot quilts, and I have taken them away to be assembled and bordered. Everyone said how much they had enjoyed the day, not only the achievement of making something pretty to brighten someone's life, but also the chat! The hands were busy, and so were the tongues, putting the world to rights in the best traditions of sewing circles! They are hoping to arrange another session in the autumn, and I can't wait for the next one, ladies!
