Another workshop and more requests

Recently I was asked to hold a sewing workshop for the Wingerworth Townswomen's Guild (my Mum is the president, so how could I refuse!) I decided to make more of the string blocks on interfacing, as anyone who can do running stitch can make these!
Here are the ladies hard at work. They really enjoyed making these blocks, and produced enough for two cot quilts! Here is one set of blocks ready to be sewn together and bordered. I'm glad there are so many willing volunteers, as I had another call from the Looked After Children's Services, asking if I had any large quilts, two for girls and one for a boy who were all leaving the care system and moving into their own accommodation. At this time of the year when so many 18 year olds are moving away from home to go to university, it gave me pause to think about these youngsters, who will have no loving family to fall back on, when times are tough. I was glad to find some big quilts, and a whole pile more for other children in need of a hug.Debbie was delighted with the quilts, and even came to pick them up on her day off!
